The big money Messi's PSG will be paid to face Ronaldo & company

Lionel Messi's Paris Saint-Germain will reportedly be paid a handsome figure to play against a Cristiano Ronaldo-led Saudi all-star team later this week.

The Portuguese forward will make his unofficial debut in Saudi Arabia when the Ligue 1 log leaders take on a combined Al Nassr-Al Hilal all-star XI on Thursday.

The highly anticipated match could potentially be the last time Messi and Ronaldo are on opposite sides of a pitch, although there are rumours that teams in the Saudi Pro League are pushing to secure the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner's signature should he leave PSG.

With many looking forward to the exciting encounter in the Middle East, French news outlet L'Equipe has now reported that Les Parisiens will be paid just over €10 million (R184 million) for the game.

The French side will also likely profit from streaming the match across a number of international platforms at a price tag of €1.99 (R36) per viewer, while Qatari broadcaster beIN Sports will also exclusively showcase the tie.

The report adds that PSG will welcome the extra income after recording €370 million (R6.8 billion) in losses for the 2021/22 campaign, and there are suggestions that this season's balance sheets are likely to be similar.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo will wear the captain's armband for the all-star XI in the clash, according to the Daily Mail.
