Brazil star Dani Alves has now been arrested following accusations of sexual assault.
Earlier this month, the UNAM Pumas star, who was part of the Selecao squad that went to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, was formally accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a nightclub in Barcelona last month.
It was said the woman filed a police report against the Brazilian, alleging he had touched her inappropriately under her clothes without consent on the night of 30 December.

She is understood to have then told security what had transpired once Alves had left the nightclub.
According to AFP, the 39-year-old was arrested on Friday in Spain and will now go before a judge, who will decide a charge for the former FC Barcelona fullback.
It remains unclear what the charge will be as sexual abuse in Spain can mean anything from unsolicited and unwanted sexually groping to rape.
Spanish police have so far refused to give any details on the case.

Barcelona-based news website El Taquigrafo claims it has seen CCTV footage showing Alves entering the club bathroom with the woman on the night and coming out of the restroom after 47 seconds.
It was claimed by the Spanish outlet that the lady burst into tears once he left the venue.
