Kaizer Chiefs legend Jabu Mahlangu has accused Sundowns of hogging the countries' best players, effectively dropping the standard of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and 'killing' the national team.
The Brazilians have opened a 16-point gap at the summit of the DStv Premiership with 12 games left to play in the season. Sundowns has also grown notorious for shrewd business in the transfer market in recent years and willingness to splurge the cash on acquiring some of the countries best players.

Following Sundowns 1-0 win over Chiefs on Saturday night, Mahlangu - formerly known as Pule, has taken to social media to voice his frustration.
"Personally, I'm not longer able to watch PSL (Premier Soccer League) games. The standard of the PSL has dropped too far," the retired midfielder said via video posted on social media.
"With what's happening right now, our national team is dead. Let's be honest and not favour [any teams], something has to be done.
"If you look at the Chiefs and Sundowns game. Look at the team Sundowns selected and then look at players like Kapinga, Lebusa, Coetezee, the list is endless. These are players sitting in the stands when they could be playing at other teams.
"Then they say they want to help Bafana Bafana? that's impossible because all our best players are at one team and they' don't play.

"I'm happy that some of the fans are now speaking about this even on social media, that something must be done now because we can't have the best players, all the most talented players in the PSL at one team and not playing, how are going to improve [the national team].
"I don't want to compare, Manchester City didn't buy all the top players in the Premier League. The league is still competitive, yes, they are a good team but the Premier League is still very competitive. I'm not comparing, I'm just making sense.
"Something must be done. Even they at Sundowns know that what they are doing is destroying South African football.
