Bayern Munich remain without a Bundesliga win in 2023 after they battled back to secure a 1-1 draw against Koln on Tuesday night.
The defending champions kept the same line-up despite a 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig the last time out, as Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane sandwiched Jamal Musiala in attack, just behind target-man Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The Bavarians went behind as early as the fourth minute after Ellyes Skhiri finished off a flick-on by Julian Chabot at the back post.
Julian Nagelsmann's charges took time to settle in the game and although they put Koln under pressure, they rushed their moves in the final third, as goalkeeper Marvin Schwabe did not have much to do.
The home side pinned Steffen Baumgart's men in their own half as the interval approached but they still could not carve out clear openings and needed to find solutions at half-time to breach the Billy Goats' defence.
Nagelsmann brought in Kingsley Coman in place of Gnabry from the break in the hope of a change of fortunes in attack but the same theme of a lot possession without the end product continued in the early stages of the second stanza.
However, Coman was lively for the Bavarians as he fashioned some decent chances but Bayern needed to be more clinical in front of goal and with 22 minutes to go, Thomas Muller was the latest hopeful of turning the game around as he replaced Musiala, who was subdued.
The two substitutes for Bayern nearly produced the equaliser with 11 minutes left after Muller's dipping header was tipped over the crossbar by Schwabe from Coman's cross.
The Bavarians gained more belief and Joshua Kimmich finally snatched the equaliser in the last minute with a cracker from range that looped over Schwabe.
