Downs gives update on De Reuck injury

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck is back on his feet after recovering from a serious head injury during their DStv premiership match against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela stadium on Tuesday.

De Reuck was stretchered off the field in the 11th minute of the match after colliding with one of the Galaxy defenders just a few seconds after scoring the opener for Sundowns in Nelspruit.

The 27-year-old defender was later replaced by Brian Onyango as the Brazilians snatched their 13th consecutive win this season.

Masandawana head coach Rulani Mokwena gave an update on De Reuck's head injury.

"Rushine is on his feet. It's good that he has regained consciousness, the medical team need to be given a lot of praise both from Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy for the prompt response," said Mokwena.

"It's good to see him walking and that he has gained consciousness, I just saw him in the dressing room. He scored a very important goal for us which opened the game a bit and we are just grateful that he is in a condition to be able to recognize his surroundings now and we are proud of his contribution towards the win," he added.

Sundowns are set to host Sekhukhune United in their next league match in Tshwane on Saturday. The Brazilians remain on top of the league standings with 49 points after playing 19 games so far this season.
