Sono hits back at Ngubane

Football legend Jomo Sono has hit back at fellow great Mlungisi "Professor" Ngubane for saying that he was a better player than him.

Sono played for the likes of Orlando Pirates and at one stage even had the late Pele as a teammate at New York Cosmos.

The skilful Ngubane was always a marvel to watch in the colours of Bush Bucks.

Sono says he respects Ngubane's opinion.

"Ya it's fine (laughs), it's okay," Sono tells KickOff.com.

"It's his own opinion so where do I fit in? It doesn't concern me.

"They are all the same and they are the same WhatsApp group (Sitting With Stan TV show team) those people.

"I don't want to comment about such things, I've played my part in football and I was not competing with anybody.

"I was competing with myself and that's it. That's fine that's his own opinion [Ngubane]. Sometimes as a person, you shouldn't try to bring a dead corpse back to life.

"Rather let the corpse think whatever he thinks is right. You never bring a dead body to life.

"Why must we compare ourselves to each other when we are old and finished like this?

"Now that we are old you start comparing yourself to Jomo to Ace and you complain about Johannesburg? Are you bitter? Heh?

"Are you bitter towards your failures? I was not playing football to compete with him Professor Ngubane.

"He was a very good player, but I can't compare him to anybody.

"He was a good player as much as the likes of Richard Ngubane. And the likes of Ace Mnikathi were better than him.

"But if you are saying he said all this on Screamer's show then it's expected. You can quote me saying that it's expected."
