Gallants are expected to imminently announce Kerr as their new appointment to replace the outgoing Dan Malesela after an underwhelming run of results so far this season.
Malesela's side suffered their ninth defeat in the DStv Premiership after a 2-0 loss to Orlando Pirates at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday.
The Limpopo-based side remain rooted to the bottom of the league standings with points just 15 points after 20 games and seem in a perilous position in their relegation fight.
Gallants are three points adrift their nearest rivals, but alarmingly having played two more games.
According to sources close to the situation, the club hierarchy has now turned to Kerr to save it from relegation.
"The club has spoken to a few coaches, including Luc Eymael," a source tells KickOff.
"However, Dylan Kerr now looks set to take over as head coach at Marumo Gallants."
