OFFICIAL: Man City hit back after '100 rules breached'

Manchester City have released an official response after being charged with over 100 breaches of financial rules.

Earlier today it was claimed that the Citizens were charged by the Premier League following numerous breaches of financial rules.

The Premier League alleged that the breaches came over nine seasons, from 2009 to 2018. Manchester City won the Premier League three times during that period.

City have now responded to the allegation with a statement.

"Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with," the statement read.

"The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

"As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all."
