Manager Xavi Hernandez has reacted to reports of Lionel Messi's potential return to Barcelona following a meeting between the superstar's camp and the club.
Earlier this week, it was claimed by Catalunya Radio that the Argentine's father and agent, Jorge Messi, had sat down with club president Joan Laporta to discuss a potential return to the Blaugrana, among other topics.
While Paris Saint-Germain are keen to extend the veteran's stay in France, meetings between the Ligue 1 club and the player's representatives have reportedly not progressed as expected.
The Spanish outlet added that Barca are intent on securing the 35-year-old's signature at the end of the season when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires.
This news came just one week after Jorge Messi insisted that his son's return to the Camp Nou is unlikely.
Ahead of Barcelona's clash with Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, Xavi once again welcomed the idea of the club legend returning to Catalonia.

"This is his home and the door is always open," the Spanish manager said, per ESPN.
"[Messi] is a friend and we are in permanent contact.
"It depends on what he wants for his future and how the club see it.
"He is the best player in the world and the best ever. He would always fit [the team]."
