Ten Hag's savage punishment for Man Utd stars 'revealed'

Erik ten Hag reportedly punished Manchester United players in a savage manner following their humiliating 7-0 defeat to Liverpool on the weekend.

At Anfield on Sunday, the Red Devils suffered a shock loss that saw them equal their biggest defeat since 1931.

After the match, manager Ten Hag publicly slammed his players for failing to "fulfil their jobs", and reportedly called his players into United's training complex early on Monday morning to begin an inquest into the result.

However, according to the Daily Star, the team's punishment began on Sunday night already, when Ten Hag forced his players to sit in silence and listen to Liverpool's celebrations in the opposite dressing room.

There was more that seemingly transpired in the Red Devils' changing room too, with the former Ajax boss said to have given his stars a serious warning.

"Ten Hag was obviously furious and told them they were lucky to be getting on the team bus back to Old Trafford and not made to travel back with the fans," a source told the Daily Mirror.

"He warned them all that if anything like that happens again, there won't be another chance for them and they'll be put in the U21s."

It is believed Ten Hag has also told the squad to expect more sessions with sports psychologist Rainier Koers.

When United lost 4-0 to Brentford earlier this season, the tactician forced his players to run 13.8km each the next day as that was the distance the Bees ran more than they did in that fixture, although Ten Hag joined in on the exercise himself as a sign of solidarity with the team.
