Messi set to become club owner after PSG exit?

With Lionel Messi out of contract at the end of season, a potential suitor is reportedly considering offering him his own club as part of a deal.

The 35-year-old is considered to be among the most sought-after players in football at the moment, with several clubs having already made their interest in the player known.

His current employers Paris Saint-Germain have made it clear that they are keen on the Argentine signing a contract extension at the Parc des Prince, while several members at FC Barcelona, including the manager Xavi Hernandez, have admitted that they would highly welcome his return to the Camp Nou also.

Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal are also reportedly in the mix and various reports have suggested that the club are willing to at least match the deal Cristiano Ronaldo has with Al Nassr in order to bring his long-term rival to the Gulf State too.

Meanwhile, United States outfit Inter Miami have been quite outspoken about potentially signing the seven-time Ballon d'Or, with their coach Phil Neville having repeatedly said he wants the attacker at the club.

Last week, Major League Soccer (MLS) commissioner Don Garber also revealed that the division would also consider contributing financially to the possible transfer.

According to Goal, Inter Miami are contemplating the possibility of striking a similar deal to that of club co-owner David Beckham, which would involve signing Messi on a relatively low wage and provide an option to create a club for a low price. It is unclear which franchise would be offered to the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.

Upon his 2007 arrival in the MLS, Beckham was given a salary of just €30 million (R583 million) for five seasons but he was also handed a chance to create his own franchise for a sum of €25 million (R486 million) and this decision seems to have been very profitable as Inter Miami is now said to be worth $600 million (R10.9 billion).
