Henry set for shock national team job?

France legend Thierry Henry could reportedly make a sensational return to management with a shock international team.

The 45-year-old left his role as Belgium national team assistant coach following Roberto Martinez's resignation from the helm after the Red Devils were eliminated from 2022 FIFA World Cup in December.

The Arsenal icon has found little success in club management, having endured failed spells as manager of Ligue 1 side AS Monaco and Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact.

He was sacked by the former in January 2019 after three months in charge, and stepped down from the latter role, citing family reasons, in February 2021.

According to ESPN, however, the 1998 World Cup winner is now open to managing the United States men's national team.

The position is currently vacant after previous boss Gregg Berhalter had to leave the role pending an investigation into alleged domestic violence, with Anthony Hudson acting as interim manager.

French Football Federation committee member Jean-Michel Aulas recently revealed that Henry was offered the France women's national team job, but declined it.

"He considered it, Thierry," Aulas told Le Figaro.

"I personally asked him the question, but the response was not positive.

"He was obviously very flattered that he was asked. We did it because we were told he might be interested.

"But it will not be Thierry Henry. I think he is moving on to other projects."
