Barca to 'offload' Fati and 3 others

FC Barcelona are reportedly set to offload four players at the end of the season, including African-born sensation Ansu Fati.

Last month, LaLiga president Javier Tebas revealed that the Catalan giants would not be able to sign any new players as things stand due to the league's Financial Fair Play regulations.

It is reported that the club would either need to find other economic alternatives to balance the books or offload some players in order to allow new signings to be registered, with no more than four members of their current squad set to depart.

According to AS, defender Eric Garcia is mostly likely to leave after his second season at the Camp Nou.

The Spaniard fell out favour under manager Xavi Hernandez and the expected arrival of Athletic Club centre-back Inigo Martínez, who has reportedly reached verbal agreement to join as a free agent next season, could spell the end for the former Manchester City star.

The LaLiga outfit will also sanction the loan exit of young midfielder Pablo Torre. The 19-year-old has only made seven appearances for the side since joining from Racing Santander and coaches at Barca are aware that another campaign without regular game time will more than likely stifle his development.

AS further reports that Ferran Torres and Fati are the last two on the chopping block, as their sizeable salaries making them ideal candidates for a departure. Both players have struggled to live up to their potential.

The latter has been ravaged by injuries for the vast majority of his short career and this has impacted his game and place in the squad, dropping behind the likes of Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele when fit.

Meanwhile, Torres' proposed sale is purely financial rather than for sporting reasons. Barca are keen to recoup around €35 million (R691 million) from the transfer but the club understand that they will have to take a loss on the 23-year-old, as they believe his market value has fallen since joining them from Manchester City in January 2022 for the aforementioned fee.
