The Manchester United board are said to have given manager Erik ten Hag a massive boost regarding one of the club's top transfer targets.
It is widely reported that the Red Devils are in the market for a top striker, with current centre-forward Wout Weghorst's six-month loan move from Burnley set to expire at the end of the season and there being no indication that his time at the club will continue beyond that.

As a result, United have been linked with the likes of Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney of Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur's record goalscorer Harry Kane.
A staggering £150 million (R3.3 billion) price tag has reportedly been placed on the Nigeria international by his Italian club, per the Daily Mail, while Toney is said to still be just an option the side is weighing up, with no formal approach lined up.
According to the Daily Star, however, Ten Hag has made Kane his priority target for the next transfer window, and United CEO Richard Arnold has now approved an £80 million (R1.7 billion) bid to be submitted to Spurs for the player.
It is said the 13-time Premier League winners are eager to complete the deal as quickly as possible, and will initiate talks with the London outfit before the end of the season.
Ten Hag is also said to believe that having the 29-year-old in his squad will make the Red Devils title contenders in the 2023/24 campaign.

According to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, Kane is now in a tricky situation about his future given that he has never won a trophy at Tottenham.
"He's got a big decision to make, career-wise," the former England captain said, per the Metro. "I've been there myself, where you're thinking: 'Is my team good enough to get me the medals? Am I going to get out of my career what I want to get?'
"It's different for me. I knew winning one trophy more with Liverpool would have meant a lot more to me than being anywhere else.
"He [Kane] has got a big decision to make. I can't give him any advice on that but I bet you every single day of his life now moving forward, it's going to be on his mind."
