Real Madrid bounce back after Benzema hat-trick

Karim Benzema bagged a first-half hat-trick for Real Madrid, who returned to winning ways with a 6-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid on Sunday afternoon.

Nacho Hernandez wasn't called on due to suspension as Madrid started Aurelien Tchouameni and Rodrygo in the place of Luka Modric and Federico Valverde.

It wasn't an easy opening for the title holders who could've trailed on ten minutes from a curling shot in the area by Roque Mesa, but he hit the face of the upright.

However, the strong mentality of the host showed ten minutes later and were ahead after Marco Asensio picked out Rodrygo from a flowing move and the Brazilian obliged with a bottom-corner finish.

Los Blancos extended their tally on the half-hour mark through a diving header from close-range by Karim Benzema following a cross-field delivery by Eder Militao.

Benzema collected a brace in the space of two minutes when he darted in from a tight angle to the edge of the danger area and nestled in the top corner.

The Frenchman wasn't done and helped himself to a hat-trick ten minutes to halftime where he applied a overhead kick from close-range and guided a teasing cross from Rodrygo in the net.

Enrique Perez and Alvaro Aguado were taken from the bench by the visitors ahead of halftime before a curler of a shot from the latter hit the front of the post.

Madrid got more chances to add to their solid advantage with Rodrygo from a long ball by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but he hit the upright.

Los Blancos kept the momentum around full-time and made it five when Asensio combined with a reserve pass from Rodrygo before finding the net.

However, the host weren't done and grabbed a sixth through a smartly taken finish by Lucas Vazquez and furthermore brought the clash to a close.
