Orlando Pirates midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch has explained the key factor behind the Buccaneers' DStv Premiership win over Richards Bay on Saturday.
Pirates secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Natal Richboyz at King Zwelithini stadium in Durban, courtesy of goals from Terrence Dzvukamanja and Monnapule Saleng.
The Buccaneers players were already made aware that a win would secure second spot, and Lorch has revealed that the desire to step closer to a CAF Champions League spot was ultimately the difference between the two teams in Durban.
"It wasn't easy playing against Richards Bay, they are a good team," Lorch told Pirates' media post-match.
"But the attitude, I think we needed it more than them and that's why we got the results. I needed to push the guys also. I do that by making sure I play very well and they can join me [follow suit]."
"We started very well. We knew they would play with tree at the back and the coach said we have to keep the width."

The win means Pirates now sit in second position on goal difference ahead of Matsatsantsa, who drew to Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs won against Stellenbosch on the same day.
Meanwhile, SuperSport United's draw meant that Sundowns have successfully defended their Premiership title, collecting a sixth consecutive championship.
