Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has backed attacker Gaston Sirino to add value to Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana squad if chosen after becoming eligible for selection.
The Uruguayan maestro got the nod for South African citizenship at the end of January this year after completing five years living in South Africa and therefore became eligible to represent the South African men's football national team.
Sirino, who is yet to be called up for the Uruguay national team, has said himself already said that he would be delighted to take don the green and gold of Bafana if he were called up.
Speaking to journalists after Sundowns 0-0 against Swallows on Sunday, Mokwena seemingly backed the bid.
"If he has the things [documentation] and everything possible, I think he can add value, of course," Mokwena said.
"But fortunately, I don't select the national team, that's the hardest thing, there are so many good players in this country, so I don't even think if there's a good player available it should be a discussion."

Sirino, has been sidelined since January by an ankle injury but returned to action with a 23-minute appearance against Swallows. The 32-year-old attacking midfielder has scored three goals and provided four assists in 19 appearances this season.
Meanwhile, Bafana has secured a spot in next year's African Cup of Nations (Afcon) which will kick off in January. Before that, the 1996 Champions still have to face Morocco in June.
