Linda Mntambo set for major U-turn at Sekhukhune?

Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter has revealed that Babina Noko could very well pull a U-turn on the possibility of playing Linda Mntambo before the end of the season.

Initially ruled out for the rest of the season, Mntambo's recovery and work ethic has impressed Truter and the club's technical team alike. So much so that there is now a small possibility the midfielder could return to action before the end of the season.

"Linda is still far off to be honest," Truter told KickOff.

"In terms of his [return], the rehab programme is quite extensive. The plan was always to have him back for next season. The rehab programme is extensive but at the same time he is making so much progress week by week that we actually might see him before the season ends."

Mntambo joined Sekhukhune from Orlando Pirates at the start of the season and became indispensable for Babina Noko, playing all 12 games up until sustaining an injury in December.

The 33-year-old made a brief return to action in February only to suffer anther injury setback. Truter, however, still holds the club captain in the highest regard.

"He [Mntambo] is a marvelous player. As much as he is injured and the rehab programme is extensive, he still plays his part off the off the field as well," added Truter.

Sekhukhune have six more matches to play, including a Nedback Cup semi-final clash against Stellenbosch, but Truter's charges must turn their immediate attention Kaizer Chiefs, whom they will host at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday.
