“He’s finding joy,” - Riveiro hails revived Lorch despite fresh setback

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro full of praise for talisman Thembinkosi Lorch despite a fresh setback ruling the attacker out of Bucs' win over Cape Town City.

Lorch was a notable absentee as the Buccaneers battled to a 2-1 victory against Cape Town City at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Riveiro revealed shortly before start of the match that the attacker has suffered a injury in training and could make it to the match-day squad.

The 29-year-old endured a frustrating five months on the sidelines due to a knee injury, missing out on 18 of the Buccaneers' games this season, but has returned to be an important weapon in Riveiro's artillery.

Lorch has scored three goals since his return and although he could not be part of the match against City, Riveiro was quick to heap praise on the midfielder when quizzed about the severity of Lorch's injury.

"Lorch is an important player, it goes without saying but again you saw today the group taking the responsibility; performing well." Riveiro explained.

"We hope to see him [back on the field] well as soon as possible and actually, I think it's a minor [injury] but it happened too close to the [City] game and we didn't have the margin to solve it.

"But yes, happy for him because he's finding joy in the games and during the week [in training] and we all get [the] benefits of that obviously."
