Ten Hag makes bold Man City claim

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made a bold Manchester City claim after his side secured their passage to the FA Cup final.

The Red Devils have set up a cup final against the Citizens following their penalty shootout victory over Brighton Hove Albion on Sunday.

City are still in the Premier League title race and have qualified for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, meaning they still have the chance to win the treble only the Red Devils have achieved previously, back in 1999.

The upcoming FA Cup final could thus offer United the opportunity to stop their neighbours from claiming the treble, and after defeating the Seagulls via penalties on Sunday evening, Ten Hag issued a warning to Pep Guardiola's side to this effect.

"We will give everything, and when I say everything, that is everything [to stop City's bid for the treble], more than 100% you can't do, the fans can rely on that," the Dutchman said, per ESPN.

"We want to give that against City, we want to give the fans that.

"We have to play the perfect game, it was the perfect game we played this season [when United beat city 2-1 in January], we have to go again, we know that.

"But first of all we have to focus on different occasions because we have to be in the top four."

After defeating Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final in February, the Red Devils have now reached the final of both major domestic cup competitions in a season for only the third time, previously doing so in the 1982/83 and 1993/94 campaigns.
