Manchester United and Liverpool are now reportedly set to do battle for the signature of a former FC Barcelona star.
The two teams are no strangers to competing with each other in the transfer market, having previously beaten each other to several players in the past.

One of the latest examples of such an instance was the January arrival of Cody Gakpo at Anfield, despite strong claims that he was all but set to join United.
The two English giants could now once again hijack each other's potential deal, this time for a former Barcelona star following his impressive performances in France.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils and the Reds sent their scouts to monitor potential signing Jean-Clair Todibo of OGC Nice during a Ligue 1 game against Rennes last weekend.
Newcastle United are also said to have sent their talent acquisition staff as well, with many believing the French centre-back is set for a move to a top club in the coming months.
The 23-year-old's price tag is thought to be about €45 million (R956 million), and Barca would benefit from any potential sale after inserting a 20% sell-on clause in the deal when they sold him to Nice for €8.5 million (R180 million) in 2021.
Todibo has impressed as he registered the third-most appearances for his club so far this season, trailing only goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and centre-back partner Dante.
With Liverpool's leading centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate having missed 20 games between them this season and Joel Matip out of contract next year, Jurgen Klopp's side are also said to be weighing up a move for RC Lens defender Kevin Danso, according to various reports.
