Bayern slammed for Tuchel decision

A Bayern Munich legend has slammed the club for sacking Julian Nagelsmann and bringing in Thomas Tuchel when they were still on course to win the treble.

The Bavarians enter the final day of the Bundesliga season two points behind Borussia Dortmund after their disappointing 3-1 loss to RB Leipzig last weekend.

Should Dortmund clinch the title on Saturday, Bayern will finish the season without any major silverware for the first time since the 2011/2012 season.

"Of course, many mistakes were made even before the change of coach, which ultimately led to this situation. But the team, which were still on course to win the treble under Nagelsmann, are playing worse under Tuchel," Bayern and Germany legend Matthaus said to Bild.

"The squad is individually so strong that you have to at least become a champion with them, but the team don't work because everyone is busy with themselves.

"Tuchel increased the uncertainty because at his press conferences, which I find a bit strange, he always talks about how difficult everything is and what doesn't work, instead of standing up for the team."

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžic recently claimed that Tuchel needs a proper pre-season.

"All decisions were made to the best of our knowledge and belief for FC Bayern. I'm doing my job 24/7 and always trying to do my best," Salihamidžic told Sky, as per Mia San Mia.

"When you see what kind of team we had before the start of the season — it's surprising to me too that we might not win any title this season.

"We looked at it for a long time and were of the opinion that we had to act. Thomas Tuchel needs the preparation (preseason) with the team, then everything will be better."
