Emotional Riveiro extremely proud of Bucs

An emotional Jose Riveiro expressed his delight for the players, staff and supporters after Orlando Pirates secured the Nedbank Cup title on Saturday.

Pirates trailed through an early effort from Sibusiso Vilakazi and needed a penalty from Tapelo Xoki to level on the stroke of halftime before Terrence Dzvukamanja slammed in the winner at the death.

It is the second silverware of the season for Riveiro – having guided the Sea Robbers to the MTN8 as well and added it wasn't their best of encounters against Babina Noko.

"Not our best game but its difficult to play well in a final. We were a bit nervous, not controlling the game with the ball as we supposed to do and we have to improve even in this type of a scenario," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"There's nothing I can say, you know my players did everything. It's not easy to play in an exciting day like today we're learning, we're getting better. We want to play more finals so this is going to be a good learning process for us.

"Extremely happy with the victory as you can imagine for everybody, for the fans, for the people in the club, family, friends," he added while tearing up.

Countless sessions behind the scenes from all and sundry have been a hugely instrumental in the Buccaneers rise to the top this season as the potential to become great again is within reach.

"Hours, hours, hours and hours of dedication from the players around the training sessions. There's nothing else, that's the team we work.

"We do our best every day, we try, we don't keep everything or anything and that's the key and then the players have the quality. We have everything in our hands to be great again, to be what Orlando Pirates is so you can imagine extremely happy.

"Sometimes, they work, take a day off. This is one of the cases it doesn't mean it always happens even if we lose today.

"We have to proud of these players, proud of the technical staff, the way they helped me during the whole season since I arrived here.

"It was something very crucial for me, for us especially the Spanish crew so I will be thankful for the rest of my life."
