"I had a privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. It will be Leo's last match at the Parc des Princes against Clermont," he said at the presser, according to GetFrenchFootballNews.

"I hope he'll be welcomed in the best possible way. He was an important part of the team this season, and was always available.

"I don't find the remarks and criticism to be justified."

The confirmation comes after weeks of heavy speculation regarding the star's future next season. Should the 35-year-old leave without registering a goal involvement, he will depart Paris having contributed with a productive 32 goals and 35 assists in 74 games for the Parisians.

His future outside of PSG remains a hot topic, with three potential suitors, FC Barcelona, Inter Miami, and Al-Hilal, understood to be serious contenders to become his next home.

Meanwhile, his Paris farewell is likely to not be celebrated due to the fact that it coincides with the unfortunate horse-riding accident suffered by goalkeeper Sergio Rico. The shot-stopper was remains in hospital with serious head trauma.

As such, the club has decided not to have any Ligue 1 title celebrations as they are deeply affected by the devastating news regarding Rico, thus making a jubilant send-off for Messi at the stadium unlikely.

"It's been a very difficult week. We went from winning the title on Saturday to a rude awakening on Sunday," Galtier added.

"We're all affected, we're trying hard to take our minds off it through training sessions. We're all together to send lots of positive vibes and energy to Sergio, his mother, his wife, and those close to him.

"The players keep asking for news, we need to have hope, stay positive and send our energy to Sergio, who's a big lad who's fighting. We need to believe in life, in medicine."
