BREAKING | Kaizer Chiefs release out-of-favour midfielder

DStv Premiership side Kaizer Chiefs on Thursday announced the departure of out-of-favour midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange after the expiration of his contract.

"Phathutshedzo Nange has been released by the Club on the expiry of his contract. The 31-year-old signed for Amakhosi from Stellenbosch FC in July 2021.

"Nange played a total of 31 games and scored 2 goals in all competitions.

"Good luck. All the best!" a brief club statement read.

After starring for Stellenbosch FC, Nange failed to live up to expectations at the Soweto giants after completing a high-profile move in 2021.

The midfielder made a limited impact and found limited playing time under head coach Arthur Zwane.

KickOff had previously reported that the 31-year-old had already agreed to a move to rivals SuperSport United where he will reunite with former coach Gavin Hunt.

The duo also spent time together at Bidvest Wits with both player and coach moving to Chiefs after the sale of the top-flight status of the now-defunct Clever Boys.
