Ronaldo 'calls' Portugal teammate to join Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly called one of his Portugal teammates to join his club Al Nassr.

The Saudi Pro League remains on the hunt to poach more stars from European football to add to the likes of new arrivals Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, and Kalidou Koulibaly, among other recognisable stars.

Ronaldo's Al Nassr confirmed Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic as their marquee signing ahead of next season after completing a €18 million (R370 million) move from Inter Milan last week.

The 30-year-old signed a three-year deal with a salary in excess of €35 million (R720 million) per year, according to Goal

However, the Riyadh outfit are looking to further strengthen their squad after missing out on the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League to Al-Ittihad, who have bolstered their team with Benzema, Kante, and Jota.

Ronaldo is understood to be an influential figure at the club both on and off the pitch, as he is said to have been heavily involved in the appointment of new manager Luis Castro last week.

Moreover, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has exercised his influence after calling one of his compatriots to join him in Saudi Arabia.

According to A Bola, the veteran striker called his national team colleague Otavio to persuade him to join Al Nassr from FC Porto.

The midfielder has a release clause of £31 million (R745 million) in his current contract, which will be active until 15 July but it will rise £47 million (R1.1 billion) after that date.

Should Otavio, who was linked with Liverpool last season, agree to the move to the Middle East, he will earn nearly £12 million (R288 million) a year - five times more than what he earns at Porto.
