Mane makes 'decision' after Tuchel message

Sadio Mane has reportedly made a decision on his Bayern Munich future after he was warned about his place in the team by manager Thomas Tuchel.

Mane's situation in Bavaria is well-documented, with Bayern now said to be willing to cut their losses on the player following an underwhelming debut campaign in Germany in which he suffered a leg injury and poor form, and was also involved in a punch-up with teammate Leroy Sane, for which he was punished by the club.

It is understood that Tuchel is currently not counting on him next season and is ready to sell the 31-year-old in the coming weeks, with the club said to have informed Mane, who featured and scored in their 27-0 thrashing of German minnows Rottach-Egern in a friendly on Tuesday, that he can leave the team.

Speaking to media on the weekend in what appeared to be a warning to the forward, Tuchel said: "Basically, Sadio had an unsatisfactory season and fell short of expectations.

"The competitive situation is extremely high for him; with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, we have a constellation which makes it very difficult for Sadio.

"The player knows that too, he knows my opinion and the opinion of the club."

It is reported that the German giants are even prepared to make a loss on the £35 million (R814 million) sum they paid Liverpool for him in July 2022, with a price tag of £27.5 million (R640 million) now said to be their valuation – an increase from the previously mooted £17.5 million (R408 million) price tag they were believed to have placed on him, largely due to Saudi Arabian teams' reported interest in his services.

However, despite Tuchel and the Bundesliga club's stance on the situation, the Senegal international remains determined to stay and fight for his place in the team, according to Sky Germany.

It is further claimed, though, that his future at the Allianz Arena could rest on whether or not Bayern are able to secure Harry Kane's services from Tottenham Hotspur.

Per German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, meanwhile, a meeting regarding the transfer of Mane with a potential Saudi suitor was recently held.

"Yes, there was a meeting with Al Nassr in the last days – confirmed," he wrote on Twitter.

"But there is still no concrete offer and no decision."
