Kylian Mbappe has reportedly been overtaken as the most valuable footballer in the world.

According to football and business portal Football Benchmark, the French superstar is no longer No. 1 in terms of transfer valuations.

The platform recently published a list of the 10 players with the highest market values in the game, and it includes two Real Madrid stars and two FC Barcelona playmakers.

Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland is now the most valuable footballer on the planet following sensational 2022/23 season in which he won a historic continental treble and broke several longstanding records on his way to scoring 52 goals in 53 games across all competitions in his first campaign at the Etihad.

The Norwegian, whose value now stands at €194 million (R3.9 billion), is also hotly tipped to win the 2023 Ballon d'Or award, with Lionel Messi considered to be a frontrunner alongside him for the prestigious prize.

Mbappe's value, meanwhile, is rated at €182 million (R3.6 billion), which places him second on the list ahead of Los Blancos' Vinicius Junior, who is said to be worth €157 million (R3.1 billion).

The other Real inclusion is on the list is new arrival Jude Bellingham, whose €152 million (R3 billion) valuation ranks him above the likes of Bukayo Saka (€136 million – R2.7 billion) and Phil Foden (€131 million – R2.6 billion) among England's most valuable players.

Bellingham is fourth in the top 10, while his compatriots Saka and Foden occupy seventh and eighth position, respectively. Barca's young midfield duo Gavi (€140 million – R2.8 billion) and Pedri (€129 million – R2.5 billion) are in at sixth and ninth spot, and Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala is fifth with a valuation of €149 million (R2.9 billion).

Napoli and Nigeria talisman Victor Osimhen, in 10th place, is the most valuable African footballer in the game at €118 million (R2.3 billion), while Mbappe is the oldest in the top 10 despite being just 24 years old.

Despite the above figures, though, some of the players in the top 10 could fetch even higher transfer fees than their current valuations if they were to be sold, with clubs demanding massive money for their talismans and some buying teams willing to meet those sums.
