'Win games and win trophies' - Ntseki confirms Chiefs' trophy ambitions

Head coach Molefi Ntseki has revealed that the mandate set out by the Kaizer Chiefs hierarchy is to lift silverware this upcoming season to end the club's ongoing trophy drought.

Chiefs get their DStv Premiership season under way with a clash against Chippa United on Sunday, 6 August at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

For Ntseki, it will be a first competitive fixture as head coach since taking over at the helm from now-assistant coach Arthur Zwane.

"I think any coach who gets hired there has a mandate, and the mandate is very simple, win games and win trophies.

"Like you said, we have not been winning anything in the past," Ntseki said at the DStv Premiership media launch.

"But, we have won some games, we played in a few semi-finals last season in the MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup.

"We are predicting the future by saying, let's go beyond what we watched last year and competition is competition. We give respect to all other 15 teams.

"We are looking forward to doing well and for us to do well that means we have to dig deeper."

Chiefs' bid for silverware this season will be aided by the addition of seven new signings made by the Soweto club including Pule Mmodi from Golden Arrows, Ranga Chivaviro from Marumo Gallants and Given Msimango from TS Galaxy among others.

Ntseki has not ruled out more arrivals at Kaizer Chiefs Village during the transfer window.
