Mamelodi Sundowns struck late in the second half to secure a 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday afternoon.
The Brazilians handed a first start to Thapelo Maseko and named Mothobi Mvala back in the eleven, as Chiefs debuted Pule Mmodi who missed Sunday's draw to Chippa United due to compassionate leave.
Masandawana exerted the early pressure and were ahead when Themba Zwane intercepted a build-up phase to find Peter Shalulile who in-turn set up Lucas Ribeiro Costa to pick out the bottom-corner.
The ability to build-up and play out from the back continued to be a challenge for Molefi Ntseki's outfit and wasn't made easy by the high-line that the reigning champions deployed.
Ribeiro Costa could've bagged a double moments following the half-hour mark with a snap shot at the far post after beating the offside trap, but Brandon Peterson repelled the Brazilian.
Chiefs did have stages of possession before halftime, but were not able to get in behind and overall continued to find the going tough.
The home team should have been further ahead in the second half, but were let down by finishing from Shalulile, who squandered two golden chances in the box.
Chiefs refreshed their stall in the last 20 minutes in which former Royal AM midfielder Tebogo Potsane replaced Mmodi.
The midfielder's entry paid off as Potsane stole possession high-up and delivered a pin-point ball which saw Ashley Du Preez capitalise and side-footed home at the near post.
However, Masandawana claimed the winner in the last minute when substitute Neo Maema latched onto a long ball and volleyed in from a tight angle with the help of a handling error by Petersen as the hosts made secured back-to-back wins.
