Greenwood makes new transfer 'decision'

Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood has now reportedly made a transfer decision ahead of the start of the season.

The striker's future remains in the balance, with the club yet to announce their decision regarding his potential return to the first-team fold amid his ongoing suspension.

Coming to a solution has proved a strenuous process for those involved as it has been more than six months since the charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault against the player were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service following his arrest in January 2022.

United's reluctance to reinstate the marksman to the team is thought to be due to various reasons, including the impact it could have on club investors and the women's side, who have been reported to be concerned about the precedent his return could set.

Greenwood has missed the team's entire pre-season preparations despite manager Erik ten Hag hinting that he would be happy to have him back in the side, with the rest of the men's squad believed to share a similar view.

Other options reportedly being considered are a termination of his deal altogether, or loaning him out for the season.

With a decision on his future from the club imminent, Greenwood has now made it known that he wants to stay in England should United decide to loan him out, according to The Express.

It is claimed that, amid interest from teams in Italy and Turkey, the Englishman does not want to relocate as his priority is now to stay in his native country due to the recent birth of his first child.

It had previously been suggested that the forward was keen on playing elsewhere on the continent following his case in England, but it appears fatherhood has changed his mind in this regard.

Greenwood was also recently spotted training individually in a Jamaica national team shirt, with some suggesting that this is telling in terms of his international future.

Greenwood, who is eligible to represent the Reggae Boyz through his parent, could still change his allegiance due to the fact he has only made one senior appearance for England, in an international friendly.

It was previously reported that he had turned down an offer to play for the Caribbean nation, believing that it would ruin his chances of playing for England again, but it is believed he could change his mind after it was claimed that Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate would not consider him for selection ever again.
