In this edition of My Muti Story, we hear from former Tembisa Classic star Victor Tshabalala who reveals how muti helped him get noticed by Kaizer Chiefs.
Who and where?
"It was hectic at Classic. This topic brings tears to my eyes.
"We were in the first division playing play-offs with African Wanderers and Dynamos.
"The game took place in Makhulong, remember Classic directors were Sinky Mnisi, Thwala and Mathe.
"We were taken to some old man in Khalambazo. We were made to bathe in some itchy stuff.
"We didn't complain about its itchiness though because we thought that is the way it was supposed to work its magic."
Why were you doing it?
"You know our clubs they don't explain that much. The only explanation you will get is that it protects you."
Who was the muti man?
"I only knew some boy from Makhulong his name is Slender. He was the middleman between the club and the muti man."
What did you have to do?
"The only thing we had to do was to bathe in that muti. Remember we were in camp when these things."
Did everyone take part?
"Everyone took part. It was a must."
What stood out?
"On that day I think the muti was only working for me. I was voted man of the match that day.
"Kaizer Chiefs had sent their then team manager Screamer Tshabalala to assess Thato Maleka.
"I was wearing jersey number 4 then, placing centre-back."
What was the result?
"Dynamos gave us four that day. They beat us 4-3. I think I am the only one who benefitted from that muti."
