Inter Miami star reveals surprise advice from Messi

An Inter Miami star has revealed some surprise advice he has received from new club captain Lionel Messi.

Messi's start to life in the US has been nothing short of phenomenal, with the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner having already bagged nine goals and an assist in six games for the club.

This productive form has inspired Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup final, with Messi also scoring in their 4-1 semi-final win over Philadelphia Union early on Wednesday morning.

With the Argentine being a hugely influential member in the team, many of his colleagues have admitted that he has set the bar in the squad, with their new skipper having reportedly motivated the players to show up for training earlier than expected.

David Ruiz, who scored his team's fourth goal against Union, has now revealed what Messi, as well as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, has told him to stop doing in matches.

"We're young, we try to run everywhere. That's something they told us: 'Just stay in your position more so that the ball comes to you. Stop chasing the ball too much when you just set yourself a trap with it' – things like that," the 19-year-old said, according to Goal.

"A lot has changed for us. Everyone has a winning mentality now and everyone is ready to play every tournament, win every game and every final.

"Of course, they are players who try to give advice."
