Bayern 'make final decision' on De Gea

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have reportedly made a final decision goalkeeper David de Gea as Manuel Neuer remains sidelined.

De Gea is currently a free agent after parting ways with Manchester United at the end of last season, ending his 12-year association with the club.

The Spaniard was linked with a move to Real Madrid after Thibaut Courtois' season-ending injury, but the LaLiga side opted to sign fellow Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga.

De Gea reportedly ended up on Bayern's radar this week as the German side were keen on signing Kepa before his move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Sky Germany have reported that the Bavarians have decided against signing De Gea and have stepped away from negotiations for good.

The former Red Devils shot-stopper now remains on the market but it remains unclear where he will end up, although he did have offers from the Saudi Pro League.

The report adds that Bayern have now turned their attention to Maccabi Tel Aviv shot-stopper Daniel Peretz to cover for Neuer, who is recovering from a broken leg.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Neuer's surgery had a positive effect but they are still searching for another goalkeeper.

"We have positive news: Manu's latest operation had a very positive effect," Tuchel said, as per Manchester Evening News.

"The time off before returning to team training has been significantly reduced. I've seen him train for the last two days and what I saw was very impressive.

"We expect him to get back into team training in the next few weeks. That will change our plans. Ulle [Ulreich] is doing very well at the moment, but we can't do it with Ulle alone. We're still looking [for a solution], but I won't comment on any names."
