Kaizer Chiefs suffered their second defeat of the DStv Premiership season after going down 1-0 to TS Galaxy on Sunday afternoon.
A flu infection saw Ashley Du Preez ruled out for the Amakhosi, with Ranga Chivaviro restored to the Chiefs line-up following last weekend's MTN8 win over Cape Town City.
Galaxy were the more adventurous in the earlier exchanges, as a one-two opened up a chance for Mlungisi Mbunjana from a clever distance, but he couldn't find target.
The Soweto giants began to assert pressure later on as Chivaviro threatened the deadlock with a smart header from a cross by Reeve Frosler, but it went over the top.
That proved to be Chivaviro's last involvement, as the striker appeared to pull a hamstring near the half-hour mark and was unable to carry on playing thus had to make way for Saile Basomboli.
Saile got a big chance to find the breakthrough five minutes to halftime when he chased down a long ball before getting a clear sight of goal only to drag wide of the mark.
Galaxy got the breakthrought four minutes into the second half after a snap shot from a tight angle by Higor Vidal bounced off Brandon Petersen and rolled over the line.
The Amakhosi battled to apply confidence and needed a ferocious stop from Petersen to keep out a powerful long-range strike by Lehlohonolo Mojela.
Defender Given Msimango came close to draw the Amakhosi level off a header from a corner-kick eight minutes apart, but he guided over following a giant leap.
Petersen kept the Amakhosi alive with five minutes to go when he pulled off a double save off Kamogelo Sebelebele and was on hand to deny a close-range attempt from the same player later on.
Chiefs were unable to salvage something from the clash and left the Rockets to secure their second win of the season.
