With several contentious VAR calls having been made already in the English top flight this season, the Premier League has now reportedly made a major decision regarding the officiating process.

A couple of notable calls came during Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, with Alejandro Garnacho's goal adjudged to have been offside and subsequently ruled out.
The review of the goal deemed the Argentine winger to be just millimetres away from giving his side the lead in the match, and the Gunners would go one score two more late goals after the decision.
This sent United manager Erik ten Hag into a rage, launching an attack at the officiating after the match and claiming that the Garnacho goal should have stood.
Another decision in that game that drew the ire of fans was a penalty for a foul on Arsenal's Kai Havertz that was later overruled following a VAR review.

Seemingly in a bid to ease tensions around the VAR conversation in the country, the Premier League will now give audiences a chance to listen to how such calls are made, according to ESPN.
A new show called Match Officials: Mic'd Up will air for the first time on Wednesday, 6 September, on Sky Sports, in which audios of what is said by officials while making decisions during matches will be revealed, seemingly in a bid to address some unanswered questions and minimise confusion around the system.
A number of contentious calls this season are set to be highlighted in the first episode, including the red card Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister received against Bournemouth that was later overturned.
The new audio process was put through trials by the Premier League's chief officiating officer Howard Webb in May, but it remains to be seen if any audio from discussions that led to "incorrect" decisions will be included in the review show as well.

With Ten Hag having also criticised the angles used to make the VAR call on Garnacho's offside goal, insights on which angles are used and how decisions are made in such situations will also be revealed during the show.
