Ronaldo 'trying to persuade' ex-Man Utd star to join Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly trying to persuade a former Manchester United star to join him at Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

David de Gea has been a free agent since ending his 12-year association with the Red Devils in June.

The Spanish goalkeeper was reportedly offered a contract by United earlier in the half, but decided to change their mind in order to sign Cameroon international Andre Onana.

According to 90min, Ronaldo is now trying to convince the 32-year-old goalkeeper to make the switch to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

De Gea has been linked with a number of clubs in Europe, Saudi Arabia and also Qatar in recent weeks but he is yet to make a decision on his future.

However, the report adds that De Gea's new wife Edurne Garcia is keen to settle down in their homeland, which could rule out any move outside of Europe.

De Gea being a free agent remains a surprise to many considering he won the Golden Glove in his final season with the Red Devils, where he registered 17 clean sheets.

The Daily Mail have reported that De Gea's high wage demands is another reason why a top club have not made their move for the Spanish shot-stopper, who has been training on his own.

The Spaniard joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and went on to make 545 appearances, while winning the Premier League, UEFA Europa League, FA Cup and two League Cups.
