BREAKING: Man Utd make new Antony decision

Manchester United have now confirmed a new decision has been made regarding winger Antony's stay-away from the club.

The Red Devils have announced that the Brazilian winger will be allowed to resume training with the first team after he was placed on an absence of leave due to domestic abuse allegations made against him.

A statement by the club reads: "Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so.

"As Antony's employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.

"As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse."

The 23-year-old returned to England this week after spending several weeks in Brazil pending the outcome of the investigation. The attacker also reportedly agreed to hand his cellphone over to the Greater Manchester Police in order to assist the case.

Three women have accused the player of assaulting them, with two of them believed to have been former girlfriends of his.

It is believed that one of the alleged victims has since withdrawn her complaint against the player, while Antony has maintained that his innocence throughout on the matter, insisting there was no wrongdoing on his part during an interview on Brazilian television.

The investigation remains ongoing both in Brazil and in England.

United take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, but it appears unlikely the former Ajax Amsterdam star will feature in that tie as he gets ready to return to senior team duties.
