Big-spending Chelsea bounce back in London Derby

Chelsea registered their second win of the Premier League season after defeating Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage on Monday night.

Aramando Broja, Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer came in as the Blues' three changes from the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, as striker Nicolas Jackson missed out through suspension.

Mykhailo Mudryk was looking lively early on and he justified his start by opening the scoring on 19 minutes with a composed finish from close-range after being teed up by Levi Colwell.

Chelsea got the second goal a minute later when Tim Ream's clearance ricocheted off Broja and sailed into the far corner after the Fulham defender had initially given the ball away.

It was one-way traffic for most of the opening 45 minutes, as Mudryk continued to be a major threat down the left flank with his pace while Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez did not have save to make.

The second half was a bit more livelier from both sides, although the Blues nearly added a third goal on the hour mark when Ian Maatsen, who replaced Mudryk, struck the frame of the goal with a first-time strike.

Sasa Lukic was presented with a big chance to get Fulham back in the game on 78 minutes after getting on the end of Tom Cairney's cross but he was unable to fire past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez before the Blues cleared.

Pochettino's charges were able to see out the closing stages without much trouble, as the secured their second win and moved up to 11th spot on the league standings.
