Reports: African giants sack ex-Usuthu boss after just one month

A former AmaZulu head coach has now reportedly been sacked by one of Africa's biggest clubs after little more than one month in charge.

French coach Romain Folz has been dismissed from his role at Horoya AC, according to Guinean outlet Kale News.

The 33-year-old was appointed by the Guinea side in August on a reported two-year deal following his departure from Usuthu in July.

Horoya's executive management is said to have informed the tactician of their decision on Wednesday, with the motive behind the abrupt dismissal thought to be the side's recent failure to qualify for this season's CAF Champions League.

Folz's side bowed out at the second preliminary round of the competition after losing 4-3 on aggregate to Medeama SC, who currently sit bottom of the Ghanaian top flight after two games.

Horoya have now missed out on the Champions League group stage for the first time in three seasons, although they also did not progress beyond that phase during that period.

Folz previously had stints with Botswana outfit Township Rollers before spells in South Africa with Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu.

The tactician now holds an unwanted record of having never last more than a year in a senior head coaching role.
