Barcelona's stance on potential Messi reunion 'revealed'

Barcelona's stance on a sensational reunion between them and their all-time leading goalscorer Lionel Messi has now reportedly been revealed.

The Catalan side has no interest in re-signing the Argentine superstar, with a possible loan move "not even a hypothesis", according to Mundo Deportivo.

Whispers suggesting that the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner could make a shock return to the Camp Nou in January emerged last week, stemming from the possibility that Messi could be without football for a considerable time if Inter Miami failed to make the MLS play-offs.

Now, however, reports suggest that a move back to Spain may be completely off the table for the 36-year-old as Barca are believed to have prioritised the registration of 18-year-old wonderkid Vitor Roque instead.

The Blaugrana reached an agreement with his current club Athletico Paranaense earlier this year to sign him at the end of this season, but are now said to pushing to have him join them in January.

It is further reported that the Spanish giants would also not be able to accommodate Messi's wage demands as they continue to navigate their way out of their poor financial situation.

Meanwhile, the Miami side's head coach Gerardo Martino was surprised when, after his team's 1-0 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday, he was asked about reports linking his star man with a move to the Catalan side.

"Is he going for fun? Maybe he's going to visit Barcelona. Other than that, I don't know anything else about it," Martino said, as per GOAL.
