Can Chiefs quench trophy thirst in Carling Cup? Ntseki responds…

The start of the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup will offer Kaizer Chiefs yet another opportunity to wipe the agony of their longest wait for silverware in the club's history.

Chiefs will host AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Saturday (October 21) as they start yet another push for silverware in the bid to wipe the trophy misery that has haunted them since May 2015.

AmaKhosi have had Steve Komphela, Giovanni Solinas, Ernst Middendorp, Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter, and Arthur Zwane all failing to deliver silverware since their last trophy success.

Such has been the lost list of trophy failures for AmaKhosi that they have failed in 32 editions of different competitions and have since been overtaken by Mamelodi Sundowns as the most successful club through the PSL era years.

Sundowns have now won 25 titles while Chiefs remain stuck on 20 with Pirates closing the gap on 16 after lifting the last three knockout competitions in domestic football.

"As Kaizer Chiefs, we are looking forward to doing well in the cup games and with us at Kaizer Chiefs we want to strike a balance between performance and results," says Ntseki.

"We have been playing very well expect for winning games, so this is one game that we are looking forward to creating some balance in terms of playing to win games like this.

"It is a knockout competition, so you have to play the game to win so I think we are prepared and looking forward to the encounter against AmaZulu," says Ntseki while giving his thoughts on Usuthu.

"When they came to play us, they had not conceded any goals and had not lost any games, but I think on the day we did well and managed to score goals and win the game.

"They are a team that has improved in terms of the tactical understanding of what the coach wants to do.

"We are doing our own analysis and looking at improving as a team and we are positive that our team is getting to understand how we want to play as a team.

"The missing part of our game is not scoring goals," says Ntseki.
