New Neymar setback confirmed: 'It's worst moment of my life'

After suffering another setback during Brazil's 2-0 defeat to Uruguay earlier this week, Neymar has opened up about the challenge he now faces.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star had to be carried off on a stretcher after landing awkwardly on his left foot, causing him to fall to the ground in agony during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Wednesday morning.

His club Al Hilal has since confirmed that the attacker will be out for an extended period of time after tearing his ACL, and will undergo surgery.

"The medical tests Neymar underwent confirmed the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear injury in his knee, he will be going through surgery and then a treatment programme that will be determined later," Al Hilal wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The 31-year-old has spent much of the year battling to recover from injury after undergoing surgery to repair ankle ligaments in March, when he was still at PSG.

Having only recently recovered, Neymar must now endure another period on the sidelines, and he has admitted to needing the support of those around him.

"It's very sad moment, the worst of my life," the Saudi Pro League star wrote on Instagram.

"I know I'm strong… but this time I need support of my family and my friends.

"It's not easy to get injured, undergo surgery and then… do it again just four months later.

"I have faith, I leave it in God's hands."
