Saudi giants Al Hilal 'make' shock decision on sidelined Neymar

Saudi giants Al Hilal have now reportedly made a shock decision regarding Neymar, who is currently sidelined due to injury.

Reports suggest that the superstar's newest club has decided to deregister the Brazil international after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uruguay last month.

The injury has ruled Neymar out of competing in the Saudi Pro league for the remainder of the season, and according to Arriyadiyah, this has sparked the club's desire to free up some room to bring in another international star in January.

SPL teams are limited to having a total of eight foreign players in their squads, with the overseas stars Hilal currently having in their roster being Aleksandar Mitrovic, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Malcom, Kalidou Koulibaly, Michael, Yassine Bounou, Ruben Neves and Neymar.

The former Paris Saint-Germain No. 10 joined the Saudi giants in August this year for a reported fee of £78 million (R1.8 billion), but managed just five appearances – in which he scored one goal and provided three assists  before his latest injury.

Despite his unavailability of late, though, Hilal are currently first on the SPL table, four points ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr.

With Neymar set to be out of action until at least the end of the 2023/24 campaign, it is claimed Hilal want to once again bolster their squad in the next transfer window in order to maintain their position at the top of the league table.
