Downs legend: Pitso will need three years to resurrect Chiefs

Mamelodi Sundowns legend Lovers Mohlala believes Pitso Mosimane might find it difficult to resurrect the sleeping giant that is Kaizer Chiefs without a big chequebook.

Amakhosi have been struggling to win some silverware for eight seasons now, and Mohlala thinks the lack of patience in the club's supporters is the major contribution to the drought.

"If you don't have an open chequebook, that means you must develop your players," Mohlala tells KickOff.

"For Chiefs and Pirates to be like Sundowns they need an open chequebook. You cannot race a Ferrari with a Tazz.

"They need somebody who will come there and say, guys here's a R100 million.

"Pitso, he didn't build Sundowns from nothing, it took years. As a coach you first need to relate to your players, you need to understand their minds.

"You cannot expect Pitso to come at Kaizer Chiefs and do miracles. In life, if you are impatient, you will always encounter problems.

"Sundowns supporters used to throw stuff to coaches whenever they lost, but now that is no longer happening because they believe in the philosophy.

"The Kaizer Chiefs fans if Pitso comes, they should give him at least three years.

"And another thing, where is the budget? Sometimes, you might buy the wrong player for R15 million.

"Sundowns used to spend big monies on the wrong players. It depends on where you buy it.

"Kaizer Chiefs used to buy in Zimbabwe, but now that shop is closed. They need to go to better shops. They will need to jump the ocean."
