International players left 'crying & devastated’ after 14-0 loss

Players of a certain international side are said to have been left devastated and in tears after their humiliating 14-0 defeat on the weekend.

France claimed their biggest ever win when they put a jaw-dropping 14 goals past Gibraltar in a 2024 UEFA European Championship qualifier on Saturday.

With 10 different scorers on the night, including an own goal, the victory saw Les Bleus smash their previous record, a 10-0 demolition of Azerbaijan back in 1995.

Kylian Mbappe netted a hat-trick in the tie, while Olivier Giroud and Kingsley Coman grabbed a brace each to ensure France's qualification for next year's Euros in Germany.

It has since been revealed that the defeat had a devastating impact on the Gibraltar squad, many of whose players were reportedly reduced to tears in the aftermath.

According to Gibraltar Chronicle, a senior source recalled: "It was like a morgue.

"Players were crying, quiet, sunken heads and not a word spoken, they felt devastated."

There could be more pain on the way for Gibraltar, though.

With the small European nation set to wrap up their qualifying campaign with a fixture against the Netherlands on Tuesday night, Oranje boss Ronaldo Koeman has revealed that his side's objective is to score as many goals as possible against the minnows.

"The goal for Tuesday is to say afterwards that we have done everything we can to score as many goals as possible. We should also not get injured because of silly things," Koeman said in a pre-match press conference, per Football Oranje.
