New Al Ahly 'dispute' involving Tau explained

An explanation has now reportedly been provided for why Percy Tau was missing for a recent Al Ahly training session amid reports of a dispute between him and the club's manager.

On Saturday, the Egyptian giants claimed a convincing 3-0 win over Medeama in the CAF Champions League.

Their talisman Tau only came on as a substitute in that match, and it is understood that he also missed training the following day, prompting speculation of tension between him and head coach Marcel Koller.

The South African was also reportedly seen refusing to train with substitutes after the game against Medeama, raising questions over a potential rift.

However, it has since been explained why the player will now also miss Al Ahly's next league game against Smouha on Tuesday.

According to Cairo24, a source has confirmed that Tau is suffering from bruising on his foot.

It is said he was taken to the club's medical centre for further examination after he complained about the injury.

Koller has also since denied there is friction between him and Tau, with the Swiss tactician revealing that the forward did not refuse to participate in the substitutes training but was instead left out of the session after explaining the discomfort in his foot.
