Zamalek legend slammed for Pitso comment

With a Zamalek legend "categorically rejecting" the idea of Pitso Mosimane coaching his former club, this is what KickOff readers had to say about the comments!

What's the story?

Reports linking Mosimane with a move to the Egyptian club have now been met with criticism by a former star of the club Reda Abdel Aal.

"I categorically reject the South African taking over as coach of Zamalek, and I will not encourage Al-Abyad [Zamalek] if that happens," Abdel Aal said on the television show Primo, per El Captain.

"I was the first to demand Mosimane's departure from Al Ahly club, and I was not convinced of his artistic capabilities, despite his winning two African Champions League titles."

While some readers agreed with what the Egyptian icon said, others did not take so kindly to what he had to say.

Have a look at what the readers had to say on Facebook.

"Sadly I also agree, all the teams he coaches don't play attractive football but he still gets the results. Al Ahly wasn't the same team under his guidance, Sundowns didn't play shoeshine piano during his tenure. He just knows how to get the results but then again football is a game of opinions. We can share our opinions without vulgar disrespect," says Siphamandla Mkhulise.

"Siphamandla Mkhulise True, but what is important in football is to win trophies, because you can play attractive football but if the team doesn't win trophies the coach will be fired," replied Langelihle Nxumalo.

"Football is a game of opinions, the legend is just exercising his right of choice. What he chooses does not really matter, it depends on the management," says Tak Towing.

"What these legends think they are, these clubs can do without them, most of them are always at the negative side of progress," says Jabulani Genge Nyimani.

"'The South African...' that's all we need to know about his mentality," says MoAfrika Tongwane.

"I agree with the legend, his Saudi Arabian CV is not good, it tainted his reputation," says Aubrey Vukeya.

"What do you mean? In Saudi Arabia he won the league and promoted that team mos," said Enos Chagane in reply.

"I agree. Pitso is not good for Chiefs. Pitso doesn't believe in skillful players and Chiefs has a culture of making them," says Vincent Mafoko.

"Pitso is below the Orlando Pirates coach, below the Galaxy Coach," says Ras Tezvara Nongoloza.

"Pitso is not special..." says Abel Phadi.

Meanwhile, with Keagan Dolly reportedly failing to agree on a new deal with Kaizer Chiefs and his contract set to expire at the end of June,  his future at the club is seemingly in doubt.

Aside from being unable to register a goal this campaign, the midfielder has only made five appearances this season, missing 12.

Here's what readers had to say about his predicament:

"N the last time he won a cup competition mabena was in grade 1," says Phuti Ngoepe.

"#Dolly is not an asset at Kaizer Chiefs for me, perhaps he could fit very well at #EricTinkler's team," says Phusher Tshepho.

"Did he ever pass his medical at chiefs or did they just buy him because he played for Sundowns. It seems he is forever injured this Dolly," says Lebepe Jimmy.

"Lol he will just score a winner at the Soweto derby and they will renew his contract for a bigger and improved salary...just like clockwork," says Sibusiso Thenjwayo.

"Can someone tell me a one former Downs player who went from Downs to Chiefs, or who went overseas from Downs then return to go to Chiefs that had a good stay at Chiefs," says Franz Makhaveli.

"I don't see it being renewed, he's expensive for nothing," says Sfiso Mshengu.

"He would do back flips when scoring before, if he attempted that now, he'll be out with injury for 2 years straight!" exclaimed Sabelo Papzen Thanjekwayo.

"He must take a pay cut otherwise he will be like Khama Billiart," says Nanoshi David.

"He must play for a new contract or face the exit," says Tman Hloni.

"It's also unfortunate because he was just there to milk the Motaung family financially. He contributed zero. No silver medal no silverware. Dolly, Billiat, Castro, etc. Birds of the same feathers," Sipho Ntekiso.

"A huge paycut is something he deserves. He ratted Khune with his friend Ntshebe who must leave in June," says Ngangetshe Mchunu.
