Al Ahly star Percy Tau should win one of CAF's biggest prizes on Monday night, according to an Egyptian coach.
The South African attacker was shortlisted for the Interclub Club Player of the Year award – which is given to the best footballer currently playing on the continent – and after it was narrowed down to the final three nominees last week, he finds himself in serious contention of the individual honour.

The 2023 CAF Awards is set to be held Morocco tonight, and Tau faces stern competition for the prize, having to battle it out with Mamelodi Sundowns' Peter Shalulile and Fiston Mayele, who represents Egyptian side Pyramids.
The nominees for the Men's Player of the Year accolade, meanwhile, are Liverpool and Egypt's Mohamed Salah, Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi, and Napoli and Nigeria talisman Victor Osimhen.
Former Egypt national team assistant coach Diaa El Sayed has now revealed his favourites for both categories, insisting Tau should pick up the prize he is up for.
"I hope that Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian national team and the English Liverpool player, will be crowned with the Best in Africa award, which makes us live in a beautiful state, and I expect Moroccan Yassine Bounou, the Saudi Al Hilal goalkeeper, will be crowned the best goalkeeper in Africa, since the ceremony will be in Morocco," he said on the Match television programme, via El Captain.
"Percy Tau should win the title of best player on the continent, because he won the Champions League with Al Ahly, and I am surprised by the exclusion of Marcel Kohler, the coach of the first team of the Red Team, from the competition. He is more deserving than Abdelhak Benchikha," he added.

The former Brighton Hove Albion star played a crucial role in Al Ahly's 2022/23 CAF Champions League triumph, netting five times as well as assisting five further goals on their way to lifting his side's record 11th CAFCL title.
