Club World Cup boss makes 'dangerous' Tau claim

A manager at the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup has now made a big claim regarding "dangerous" Percy Tau, who is at the tournament with Al Ahly.

After his side's 3-0 defeat to Al Ittihad in round one of the CWC on Tuesday, Auckland City coach Albert Riera has insisted that Bafana Bafana talisman Percy Tau will be the key man for Al Ahly if they are to secure victory over the Saudi Pro League club.

The Egyptian giants are set to take on the Arabian outfit that boats a roster of big-name players including Karim Benzema, Fabinho, N'Golo Kante, and Jota in the second round of the knockout competition on Friday night.

Tau, though, has been acknowledged as a potential dangerman, having recently become the first-ever South African to win the Men's Interclub Player of the Year at the 2023 CAF Awards.

Having faced the 11-time CAF Champions League winners before himself, Riera pointed out the threat that the Red Devils attacker carries with him.

"I know Al Ahly well, as I faced them last year in the Club World Cup," the Spaniard said, per Cairo24.

"Percy Tau is the most dangerous player in Al Ahly, and he is the key to victory over Al Ittihad Jeddah."Ali Maaloul is also an important member of Al Ahly's ranks and has distinguished experiences."

The Auckland coach also had some advice that could help Ahly overcome Benzema and company.

"Al Ahly and Al Ittihad are big teams and it will be a great match," Riera added.

"My advice to Al Ahly is to stop Al Ittihad's attacks from the beginning, and Al-Ittihad's weak point is its defensive rebound.

"Al Ahly imposes its personality on any team, regardless of its strength."
